Cantano of Peru, a phenomenal Suri herdsire, was purchased by Alpaca Ventures for the 2002/2003 World Record Selling Price of $265,000. Incredible density and luster with flawless conformation and unparalleled fiber quality, Cantano has proven to reproduce his deep burgundy color. His offspring have the same beautiful color, great heads and tight, lustrous penciled locks. He was the cornerstone of their Suri breeding program and his offspring are performing very well in the show ring. He has produced 100% Suri offspring with 95% color, a great track record! Breeding to Cantano of Peru not only virtually guaranteed colorful and gorgeous babies but also added significant value to their customer's breeding program. It is with great sadness that Cantano of Peru is no longer living due to a tragic farm accident. Some of his rare offspring remain available for a short time. Calypso came to the US directly from Peru in the 1995 4th Peruvian import. She produced 4 crias for Alpacas of America in Washington state, and 1 on the east coast, Cantano's Calypsa. Not much is known about her other than she was a foundation female for one of the largest alpaca breeders in the country. She has left a legacy in her daughter, Cantano's Calypsa.
Description
Cantano's Calypsa, who was never shown, is the daughter of Cantano of Peru, who Alpaca Ventures purchased for $265,000 at auction and has over 134 registered crias, many which are champions and top placements in the shows. She has been an outstanding production dam for her owners and carries the Meteor/Cantano bloodlines providing density and deep maroon color. Her crias have ranged in color from beige to dark brown, and she has been bred to Chip's Peruvian Blackmail, WWF Bonanza, Yodi's Creation, and Yodi, producing 5 females and 3 males. Her crias available in the Suri Sensational Sale are: Crystal Blue Creation (beige female), Baker's Morningstar (dark brown female), and Lightning Rodney (light fawn male). Lightning Rodney, her 2011 light fawn male cria by Yodi's Creation was sold in the Sensational Suri Sale. Rodney sheared a 4 lb blanket in 2015, highlighting his density. Calypsa is currently not bred, but can be bred to a Wild Rose Suri Ranch or Rainbow Mountain Alpacas herd sire for a greatly reduced fee with her purchase.
Calypsa is currently residing at Rainbow Mountain Alpacas in Punxatawney, PA and can be seen there. She is very bonded with her daughter, Morningstar, and we would like for them to stay together. Buy Morningstar, and Calypsa is FREE if you commit to keeping them together.
