Acorn Acres Alpaca Farm is located in beautiful rural Ohio, just outside of the quaint village of Columbiana. We are conveniently located 1 hour from Pittsburgh, PA., Cleveland and Akron,OH. Established In 2007, Acorn Acres is family owned and operated. Pat and Gloria Chestnut, the proprietors, purchased their first alpaca shortly after a local National Alpaca Farm Days visit in 2007. From that point forward, alpacas became a passion for them and their daughter, April. Under the Acorn Acres umbrella there are 2 farms, Acorn Acres Alpaca Farm, featuring Huacayas, and Caramel Creek Select Suris (operated by April). Currently, there are 47 alpacas and one guard llama in residance. The growing Huacaya and Suri alpaca herds of Acorn Acres feature some of the most desirable bloodlines available in the United States. A breeding program focusing on healthy alpacas with superior fiber and confirmation has catapulted the farm to a well known, respected status along the eastern seaboard. The Chestnuts travel extensively to show and promote their alpacas and are devoted to educating the community about the animals.
For those who would like to see what it is like to be an alpaca owner, visit the farm for the “BE AN ALPACA FARMER FOR A DAY” program. You will participate in the daily workings of the farm as well as have the chance to socialize leisurely with all of the alpacas.
Alpacas are raised in the United States solely for their fleece, the softest and warmest natural fiber available for commercial use. Acorn Acres farm store offers an extensive line of commercially produced and handmade alpaca products.
Additional services offered through the farm include; Professional Shearing Services, Show Handling, Boarding, Birthing, & Transport Services.
