NEW! Hand Spinner’s Derby (top)

MAPACA is proud to announce a brand new competition just in time for our Sweet 16 Celebration— “The Hand Spinners Derby.” This competition is being held for the very first time here at MAPACA, and will consist of Junior and a Senior age divisions. The Hand Spinners Derby is a great way to see alpaca roving in it's raw form, spun into yarn in a fun and exciting competition with a few twists along the way. This event will be held on April 28, 2012 during the lunch break. The spinners can use a wheel or a drop spindle their choice. We are also asking the spinners to wear their best derby hat to add even a little more fun to the event and we will be asking the spectators to vote for their favorite hats. An experienced fiber judge will score the spinner's handiwork and all winning yarns will then be placed on display in the Mundo " Fibra!" area.
